Lady Commandos Win 10-AAA Soccer Title

 The Hendersonville Lady Commandos claimed a 1-0 win over the Gallatin Green Wave to win the 10-AAA district soccer title.

For the ninth time in the last 10 seasons, the Hendersonville Lady Commando soccer team has captured the district title. 

The winds blew and rain settled in just before kickoff, setting the tone for a chilly District 10-AAA championship game between long time county rivals Gallatin and Hendersonville. 

As expected, the championship game was a hard-fought competitive battle, but the Lady Commandos controlled the pace of play in their 1-0 victory.

Elkins Named Lady Bucs Coach

Main Street Preps has the story of Lauran Elkins being named the Head Basketball Coach for the Beech Lady Bucs:

The Beech girls basketball program announced Thursday, April 9 that Lauran Elkins would take over as girls basketball coach, effective immediately. She is the seventh coach in Lady Buccaneer program history. 

Elkins replaces former coach and Athletic Director Kristi Utley, who stepped down after four seasons in March.

Lady Hawks Take District Title

Main Street Preps has the story of the Merrol Hyde Lady Hawks basketball program and a big win:

Four years ago, there was no Merrol Hyde girls' basketball program. 

Fast forward to this season, and the Lady Hawks are cutting down the nets as the District 7-A regular-season champion. 

Finishing 10-0 during the regular season, Merrol Hyde earned the district's top overall seed in the upcoming tournament on February 21 at Merrol Hyde.

Lady Commando Coach Filson to Step Down

Main Street Preps is reporting that Hendersonville High School's girls basketball coach John Filson will step down at the end of this season. Here's more:

Second-year Hendersonville girls basketball coach John Filson will step down at the end of the season. 

Filson, who took over after two seasons as an assistant, informed administration of his plans to step down last week. He is currently 16-28 overall as head coach and 2-16 in District 9-AAA play.

“I came back from the Christmas holiday and had a conversation with administration after meeting with my family on a couple of occasions,” he said. “I made the final decision last week.”
