Boyd Named Public Works Director

 The Hendersonville Board of Mayor and Aldermen has voted to name Marshall Boyd the city's Public Works Director, the Hendersonville Standard reports:

The Hendersonville Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted unanimously to confirm Marshall Boyd as public works director on Sept. 8.

Boyd, who has been city engineer since 2014, was voted the interim public works director in January 2019.

Before 2014, he worked for Aecom in Nashville for seven years as a consultant and engineer. He also worked for the Nashville engineering firm Palmer Engineering from January 2005 to October 2007. He is a nationally Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control and Certified Professional in Storm Water Quality.

Cost of Doing Business?

A contentious relationship between Mayor Jamie Clary and former Public Works Director Chip Moore is costing Hendersonville $35,000.

The Hendersonville Standard has more:

The city of Hendersonville has agreed to pay former Public Works Director Chip Moore $35,000 in order to settle Moore’s claims that Mayor Jamie Clary violated a state statute by attempting to limit the director’s interactions with city aldermen.

Moore resigned from his position in December to go to work for the city of Spring Hill, Tenn., after a tumultuous relationship with Clary.

Clary signed a settlement agreement on Tuesday following a contentious 9 to 4 vote directing him to do so.

Moore Takes Helm at Public Works

Hendersonville Mayor Scott Foster has named Chip Moore the interim director of the Public Works department following the recent termination of former director Jerry Horton.

Moore has more than 10 years of experience as the city's design engineer.

The move was prompted by an investigation that ultimately led to the firing of Horton.
