BOMA Approves New Ward Boundaries Ahead of Elections

 The Hendersonville Standard reports:

Despite nearly two hours of debate on Nov. 30, a final vote on new ward boundaries for a redistricting plan the city of Hendersonville is required to implement yielded the same results as an initial vote three weeks earlier.

During the special-called Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting, board members voted 7 to 5 to implement a redistricting plan recommended by a special Citizen Redistricting Committee appointed by the board in September. The board voted 7 to 6 on the same plan on Nov. 9.

State and federal law requires city, state and county governments to redraw voting districts every 10 years following the U.S. Census to assure equal representation for voters. The city of Hendersonville is currently divided into six wards represented by two aldermen each.

Dixon Announces Bid for Alderman

 Karen Dixon is running for Alderman in Ward 4, she announced recently. Here's more:

I am introducing myself as a 2020 candidate for Hendersonville Alderman in Ward 4. My husband and I have lived in Hendersonville since 2012 and fell in love with this city and the people in it. We have two wonderful grown children; a daughter living in Japan with her husband who is a chief in the US Navy, and a son who lives here in Tennessee as well.

I retired in 2018 with a fortune 20 company with 35 years of service.  During my career, I worked in various corporate leadership roles in Finance, Quality Compliance and Regulatory Affairs. I most recently have worked as an independent consultant in the area of FDA Regulation. I also enjoy being a volunteer with the Middle Tennessee Literacy Council.

Payne Promises Leadership in Mayoral Announcement

Former Hendersonville Chamber of Commerce CEO Brenda Payne has officially entered the race for Mayor, according to the Hendersonville Standard:

Leadership is coming as Brenda Payne has formally announced her run for Mayor of Hendersonville. Her supporters call Brenda the perfect candidate for this city.  She is a champion of strong leadership, she has vast experience and Payne has a true heart for community service.

Payne will concentrate on economic and workforce development for new business and industry and will support public safety and improve infrastructure. She will lead with conservative, transparent and financial accountability.  

Payne states “I feel that this is the natural next step in serving the good people of Hendersonville, a city that I have loved and been a part of for so many years.”
